Chore rotation for families

Whose turn is it?
Kolo already knows.

Kolo assigns household jobs the way a circle dance moves: every day, everyone steps one place forward. No wheel to spin, no chart to update, no “but I did it yesterday.” Fair by math, not by memory.

After dinner

Today

Live demo · the real rotation, example family

kolo /ˈkɔlo/ · Croatian, noun — a circle dance where everyone holds hands and moves one step together. Also: how this app assigns chores.

Small app. Peace treaty included.

Fair by arithmetic

Assignments are calculated from the date — the same day shows the same schedule on every phone. Nothing to spin, nothing to rig, nothing to argue about.

A board for every battle

After-dinner dishes, weekend cleaning, feeding the cat — each gets its own board with its own people and its own rhythm.

A color for everyone

Each family member picks a color. One glance at the board and everyone knows their job — even the kids who “didn't see it.”

Time travel, allowed

Browse any past or future day. A clear “not today” banner makes sure a preview is never mistaken for the real thing.

Speaks your language

Croatian, English and German, detected from your phone automatically. Dark mode follows your system too.

Private by default

No account, no sign-up, no profile. Your boards live on your device — the schedule is math, so there's nothing to sync. One small banner keeps Kolo free, and it asks for non-personalized ads only.

Three steps, then never again

  1. Name a board

“After dinner”, “Saturday cleanup”, “Plant duty” — whatever keeps the peace in your home.

  2. Add jobs and people

More people than jobs? Great — the extras get a rotating day off. Drag to reorder, tap to pick colors.

  3. Let the calendar take over

Every day, everyone moves one step around the circle. Open the app, read your name, done.

person = people[(day + job) % count]

That's the whole engine. No history to store, no server to trust — just the date.

Questions families ask

Is Kolo free?

Yes, completely free. A single banner ad at the bottom of the board list pays for it. No subscription, no account.

How does the rotation stay fair?

Assignments are pure math: each day, everyone moves one position through the list of jobs and days off. Nothing is random and nothing depends on who opened the app — the same date always produces the same schedule.

What if we have more people than jobs?

Extra people get a day off, and days off rotate through the family just like jobs do. Over a full cycle, everyone does every job — and rests — equally often.

Can I check who was on dishes last Tuesday?

Yes. Because the schedule is calculated from the date, you can browse any past or future day. A clear banner marks days that are not today.

Do I need an account?

No. Your boards are stored on your device and are never uploaded. The only thing that reaches the internet is the ad banner, which requests non-personalized ads.

Which languages does Kolo speak?

Croatian, English and German. Kolo detects your phone's language automatically, and you can switch manually any time.
